your light will shine when all else fades

i read a quote from somewhere which says "there're many people who can catch your eye, but there's only one who can catch your heart." the pretty lady or gorgeous guy out there may make your heart miss a beat but after awhile, are the looks really that important?
can good friends one day become a couple?
some people would say that good friends shouldn't be a couple cos they may have mistaken the closeness they shared and relate it as love. and worse still, if your very best buddy suddenly confessed to you but you dont share the same sentiments as him/her, the friendship shared would inevitably become awkard. hmmm, or maybe not if you both can just talk it through and brush it aside but i doubt in most cases this will turn out not to affect your friendship.
but if you dont start out as good friends then how do you understand the other party and decide if he/she is the one for you? obviously you cant rush into a relationship without understanding the other's person character right? but then again, being good friends is totally different from being lovers. what if things dont work out? then after break up, it's likely to be difficult to be friends anymore. in fact, it's better not to be friends.
complicated. what do you think?
my cousin recently got married. her relationship was faced with strong objections from her mum initially, but she persisted and at the young age she married to fulfill the wish of her husband's ailing father. she had to travel all the way to mynammar to get married. hmmm. a marriage purely for love
my aunt's boyfriend waited for her for 14 years and still counting. age is catching up on him but he waited for her. the price of love. why do people do things out of sorts when they're in love? i cant fathom that.
does endless love exist for everyone? i cant imagine myself living to a ripe old age with one person. but it's sweet to see old couples holding hands, supporting each other through their last journey in life. and you can't help but hope for it too. some people stick through their old years together not out of love but out of obligation. it's sad. but as society opens up, we are seeing more divorce cases--a sign that people are fighting free from someone they dont love. but a sign that more people are taking love as a game.
and can two people with similar characters be in love? they say opposites attract but i think it'll be nice to share some common interests but not to the extent of complete similarities. it'll be nice for me to find someone who loves jogging!! =P and love kids too!! =) eh, random....
i guess the hardest thing in life is to love, cherish and honour someone. the most painful thing in life is not having the courage to speak out your feelings for someone. but some things are better left unsaid. regrets will stay. is it better to have regrets or is it better to end up hurting yourself and others in the process? after all, you only live once. and some things only occur once. time pass, feelings fade. we often take time so much for granted, we often take others for granted.
let's just follow our hearts.
and let there be love =)
