this year chinese new year has been somewhat less lively. had to wake up at 4am on the eve in hopes to avoid the traffic jam at the causeway on our way back muar. but no such luck, we still got stuck in the jam. then am down with gastric flu and fever. but luckily, things got better on the first day of chinese new year itself=) had been sleeping for hours during this holiday season itself. and the weather is really that bad in malaysia=(
anyway, i think as i grew older, the significance of this festive season seems to fade off. no longer am i that elated about receiving hong baos, visiting people and eating the goodies. everything seems to be like a repeat telecast--you repeat the festives year after year. traditions are still being followed but i think from one generation to another, the family roots would be, how do i put it, somewhat "uplifted"? uprooted?
hmmm. work resumes tomorrow and tuition too. i enjoyed teaching cos it keeps me in an active state and well, it will be a great satisifaction to see my students perform=) but well, time will tell if i make a good one.
upcoming BCA dinner @ marina mandarin. my senior officers and deputy director had been nice to invite me along even though i'm not a permanent staff there. it's free for them but not for me so my deputy director is going to pay for me. and they had assured me that i would be taken care of. really very sweet of them=) and the theme would be the sea.... so there's like a dress code and ARRG, preparing for graduation night had been a torture so....
